Contact ISMAT for Engineering Plastic Valve Seats

Whether you need standard PTFE seats in quantity, a custom geometry machined to your drawing or technical guidance on which Novum grade fits your application, this is the right conversation to start.

Send us your seat dimensions, valve body drawing or fluid specification. Our application engineering team responds within one working day with a recommendation and where required, a quotation.

    FAQs

Virgin PTFE is the most widely used material for soft-seat floating ball valves across general industrial, water treatment, food and chemical applications. Its full chemical inertness, ultra-low friction and natural conformability to the ball surface make it the benchmark for standard soft-seat design. For applications demanding better dimensional stability or higher mechanical loads within normal operating conditions, Modified PTFE (Novum M 03) or glass-filled PTFE grades are the typical next step.

Both offer excellent chemical resistance and low friction, but Modified PTFE (TFM) has lower creep, meaning it deforms less under sustained mechanical load. In a valve seat context, this translates to better shape retention over time, which is important in applications with sustained differential pressure or frequent cycling. If you are experiencing early seat deformation or loss of shutoff in virgin PTFE seats under continuous service, Modified PTFE is typically the first upgrade to consider.

Yes. ISMAT’s CNC machining capability covers both standard catalogue profiles and fully custom seat geometries. We work from customer drawings, CAD files or physical samples for reverse engineering. Custom seats are produced with full dimensional inspection documentation and are repeatable across production batches, so incoming quality checks on your end remain consistent.

For most floating ball valve applications running under normal operating conditions, PTFE grades (virgin, modified or filled) are the right choice as they offer superior chemical resistance and excellent conformability. PEEK becomes the better option when you need tighter dimensional tolerances, higher mechanical load resistance or better performance in applications where PTFE’s tendency to cold-flow under sustained stress would be a concern. Our engineers can help you make this call based on your specific operating profile at no charge.

Yes. ISMAT supplies engineering plastic valve seats directly to valve manufacturers and OEMs as precision-machined components for assembly. We can work to OEM drawings, qualify to incoming inspection requirements and supply in production volumes with full lot traceability. If you are a valve OEM looking to establish a reliable seat component supplier, we would be glad to discuss an approved supplier arrangement.
